TEAMS Coordinator - Stipend

Immediate opening for a TEAMS Coordinator -PT. Required: NYS Teacher or Administrative Certification required; experience working with students and experience using technology sources in the development of curriculum and the delivery of instruction.

 
Description: TEAMS is a new “STEAM” initiative sponsored by Sullivan County BOCES in collaboration with the Hurleyville Maker’s Lab. Middle and High School (grades 7-10) teams, supported by teacher “Coaches/Facilitators” will be provided with an authentic challenge that requires them to collaborate, think critically and problem solve to arrive at a true to life solution.  The challenge will be designed in collaboration with the Hurleyville Maker’s Lab staff and they will make their facility and resources available to teams as they develop their challenge solution. Dimensions of each challenge might include budget parameters, timeframe for completion, material restrictions, etc. After completing the challenge, teams will participate in a culminating event during which time they will present their solution to each other as well as to a panel of local experts, who will judge each team’s work. For the judging, a pre-developed rubric will be used which includes the scoring of the physical solution, along with the project display, presentation and an oral Q & A. The challenge will be developed collaboratively between BOCES/District staff, HML staff, and local experts, as will the associated scoring rubric to be used for judging solutions, displays, presentations and Q & As. The plan is to design one challenge the first year.
 
Responsibilities: Successful candidate will possess good communication, organization skills and the ability to coordinate activities across all participating school districts and will be responsible for the following: Serve as liaison between BOCES and the Hurleyville Makers’ lab with regards to program coordination; Coordinate and organize challenge training – up to 3 sessions per challenge/project outside of school day at Hurleyville Maker’s Lab; Facilitate TEAM planning around an authentic challenge/project in the areas of Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math, and Science; Provide feedback and input for a final team challenge and judging criteria; Coordinate, receive, organize, and prepare necessary materials and work space; Coordinate and organize TEAM design/work sessions ; Organize a mid-challenge event at Hurleyville Maker’s Lab; Organize a scheduled, culminating event consisting of presentation of TEAM solutions that will be judged by a panel of community experts at Hurleyville Maker’s Lab; Maintain ongoing communication with BOCES ISS department director; Maintain program budget; Other related TEAMS project coordination tasks

Special Education School Improvement Specialist-FT
 
Required: New York State School District Administrator certification or Special Education Teacher pursuing Administrative Certification
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in special education, psychology, school psychology, reading or speech and language; or Bachelor’s degree in special education, psychology, school psychology, reading or speech and language and a Master’s degree in education and/or educational administration; and five years direct teaching or related service experience with students with disabilities at the elementary or secondary level in a classroom setting.
 
The Special Education School Improvement Specialist will provide targeted technical assistance to school districts determined by NYSED as at risk of or needing assistance or intervention to meet the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and, as resources permit, to districts identified as focus or priority schools or districts with Local Assistance Plan schools identified based on the results of students with disabilities. The Special Education School Improvement Specialist will work primarily with identified school districts to provide embedded professional development and coaching to systemically improve instructional practices primarily in the areas of literacy, behavioral supports and interventions and specially designed instructional practices. The school improvement goals, targeted improvement activities, and assessment of progress toward improving student outcomes must be documented and monitored for results through the “Quality Improvement Process.”
