The New York State Center for School Safety
The New York Center for School Safety is funded through grants from the
Governor's Office, the New York State Education Department, the Office
of the Attorney General and New York State Department of Health for the
primary purpose of helping make schools safe.
Mission
Statement
The
New York State Center for School Safety is a state government coordinating
agency and information clearinghouse. The Center supports schools, families,
communities and government organizations in creating safe and healthy
environments.
Strategies:
- provide staff development and training on school safety and violence
prevention
- offer technical assistance and consultation to schools, communities,
and state agencies on safe schools and violence prevention
- render crisis intervention services on a responsive and timely basis
- create and develop educational materials and resources for use in
schools and communities
- act as a clearinghouse of up-to-date, research-based, and data-driven
information on effective strategies for creating and maintaining safe
schools
- initiate collaborative partnerships and facilitate coordination among
schools, state agencies an organizations, and communities
