Graphic Design - Coser 101.070
(1 or 2 year program)
Graphic Design is an enormous field that touches everyone’s life.
This one or two year pre-college program provides a basic introduction
to the creation of mass communications to students interested in print,
film, and electronic media.
Year 1
- Semester One: Students
are introduced to the basic manual skills, computer software, and communication
processes used in the key areas of the print area of graphic design.
Through challenging, hands-on projects,
students explore their individual creativity in design layout, color
theory, typography, basic illustration, photography and image editing.
- Semester Two: Students
learn about the fundamentals of the electronic medium of web design.
Interactive classes cover various aspects of the website production
process such as layout and design software, media creation, and interactivity.
Year 2
- During their second year, students specialize in a medium of interest
(print, film or electronic) through a series of customized projects.
Demonstrating their participation in the program, students produce portfolios
over the course of the year. Field trips are undertaken to see topical
exhibits and events in New York City, the center of the American graphic
design industry.
