Public Safety Services - Coser 101.120
(1 or 2 year program)

This one or two-year program is designed to provide training to 11th and 12th grade students in the fields of law enforcement, security, corrections and other public safety occupations. A renewed national interest in public security and safety is expanding employment opportunities for these occupations.

Units of study in the Public Safety Services Program include:

  • Criminal Justice
  • Criminal Law/Courts
  • Patrol Function
  • Emergency Tactics
  • Crime Prevention
  • Forensic Science


Units of study in the Public Safety Services Program include:

  • Security Operations
  • Physical Training
  • Vehicle and Traffic Law
  • Correctional Science

Public Safety Services students have the opportunity to complete the New York State Security Guard Certification requirements making them ready for employment upon graduation. Those students wishing to continue their education can earn six college credits from Herkimer County Community College for work completed in the Career & Technical Education Program.

Students who maintain an 80 percent average and enroll in the HCCC Criminal Justice Program are
considered for the awarding of these six credits.
