Academic Support for Kids (ASK) Education of Homeless Children &
Youth Program
Sullivan County BOCES now provides services to families and children
in temporary housing situations. With an emphasis on support for children
to stay or return to school, program case managers work on issues such
as school enrollment, accessing school support services as needed, and
transportation and housing. Children are invited to participate in the
Even Start Summer Camp Program. Staff work with homeless student liaisons
in local
districts to provide needed services. Funding is provided by the New York
State Education Department through Federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Education
Act dollars.
