Sullivan County BOCES presently offers several types of programming for
students who need an 8:1:1 ratio. These programs provide educational experiences
for the student with learning problems as well as behavioral and/or social/emotional
difficulties. Primary and intermediate students are instructed in self-contained
classes. Junior and Senior High students have a modified class rotation.
All high school students have a vocational component as part of their graduation
sequence. A transition work-study coordinator is available to help in career
placement.
STARS Program
The Structured Teaching And Related Services (STARS) program is designed
for children with autism spectrum and other communication disorders. This
program emphasizes a visual structured learning environment.
PM Program
A 3 – 5 pm program is offered for students needing a highly structured,
limited-time educational experience. This program may serve as an integration
phase for students coming from a more restrictive environment. In addition
to academics, students can receive counseling services.
