    Fast track your healthcare career at the Career & Tech Center. Whether you are looking to pursue a two-year, four-year, graduate degree, or enter the workforce after high school, the Career & Tech     Center’s Health Occupations Program can help you find your way. The program allows you the freedom to explore various professions while preparing for employment or college. Students learn through classroom, lab, and internship/  clinical experiences at local health care facilities. 

    The first year of the program provides a basic introduction to health-related careers and the second year allows students to explore a defined path related to their areas of interest. The structure of the program not only allows students to explore career choices, job shadow, and build a professional portfolio, but also gives students the opportunity to pursue various certification options.

    Introduction to Health Occupations

    • Prepares students with basic theory and lab skills related to the health profession
    • Career exploration
    • Clinical rotations in healthcare facilities

    Health Occupations II

    • Study of basic anatomy, nutrition, and other fundamental healthcare theory
    • Training is specific to obtaining Nurse Assistant knowledge and skills
    • Hands-on clinical experience pertaining to the duties of a Nurse Assistant in New York State
    • Long term/acute care experience
    • Upon successful completion of course requirements, students will be eligible to sit for the NY State Nursing Home Nurse Aide Examination
