CTE: Culinary Arts seniors visited the Culinary Institute of America’s Hyde Park campus for a career exploration event on Feb 26th.
A group of CTE Culinary Arts seniors visited the Culinary Institute of America’s Hyde Park campus for a career exploration event on Feb 26. The morning began with an informational session including questions & answers for a panel of five alumni. A student from the culinary science degree program provided an extensive campus tour. Many of the production kitchens have glass paneled walls, which made for quite an exciting view for CTE students as they moved through the corridors.
The tour made a pit stop at the very busy career fair, which happens three times a year for externship placement and post-grad employment. There were recruiters from all facets ranging from some very high end restaurants, country clubs and industry leaders such as Disney, McCormick, Abigail Kirsch catering and Daniel Boulod’s restaurants. Several CTE seniors filled out applications while on site and a couple of CTE students have already been accepted. The entire CTE Culinary Department will return for a tour & lunch later in the spring.
